While black has been the standard, customers are now seeing a vibrant mix of colors in the roll end caps of General Formulations films. This change is thanks to one of our top raw material suppliers who helped us introduce new recycled end caps made from scrap calendered vinyl. The recycled caps can be seen on all large rolls of film that require an 8″ x 8″ box, and they come in a variety of colors including red, tan, green, blue, and gray.
“A lot of research and development went into ensuring the recycled end caps meet the same high-quality standards as our products,” says Joe Buroccki from General Formulations’ purchasing team. “Instead of sending scrap vinyl to the landfill, we’re proud to take another step in reducing our environmental footprint.”
The new colorful end caps were rolled out in 2024 as part of our ongoing sustainability initiatives. We are also recycling 55-gallon drums, wooden shipping pallets, cardboard and paper, as well as partnering with other manufacturers to recycle scrap vinyl. GF’s standard 7” x 7” black end caps are also made from recyclable HDPE #2 plastic, which is accepted widely by most common curbside recycling programs to ensure it stays out of the waste and gets repurposed into new products.
“We’re committed to keeping as much waste as possible out of the landfill,” adds Buroccki.
