FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I use GF 229 on other surfaces?
GF 229 is designed for wall murals, decals and graphics on most types of smooth painted interior walls. This includes most flat, semi-gloss and gloss paint finishes. The surface must be smooth and clean prior to application. If applying to new paint consult the paint manufacturer for proper curing conditions before GF 229 application.
What if I leave the GF 229 WallMark® on past it’s optimal removability time frame?
The adhesive on this product will build for a few days and then it will reach its optimal bond. It will not get more aggressive over time because of the low-tack/microsphere adhesive technology.
Can this product be used on Elevators?
While the adhesive on GF 229 will stick to stainless steel and other polished metal surfaces, these types of doors may have a clear coat or other type of protection that can ‘ghost’ when the decal is removed. Any ghosting can potentially be cleaned with a metal polish, but it is best to test a small piece in an inconspicuous area for 24 hours prior to full installation to confirm fitness for use.
When paneling larger jobs, do I use overlaps or butt-seams with this product?
Either is acceptable, although butt seams require a high degree of skill to line up the panels. For this product a larger than normal overlap is usually recommend. This accomplishes two things: allows for a large area of adhesion and mitigates the “bump” caused by the two sections overlapping. We recommend 2-3” for overlapping panels.
